Fun in Cincinnati

Posted by Rachel Wednesday, July 27, 2011

Michael is a Reds fan and I am a Braves fan. Given our teams are in different divisions and only play each other two series a year it isn’t too much of a conflict but it is always interesting when they do. This year they were playing in Cincinnati and we decided we wanted to actually go to the games. Cincinnati isn’t quite midway between our two families but it is close enough that we were able to invite both to come. I especially needed my family to come so I could have more Braves fans toIMG_2990 support my team. My Mom, Mark and Jessica ended up driving up and we drove down with Michael’s parents. We also met our friends Trisha and Trevor there, so the IMG_2973scale was tipped towards the Reds fans unfortunately. Saturday’s game was so HOT! I’m used to ninety degree weather, even 100s occasionally but in dry heat, I forgot how crazy 90s in probably 90% humidity is. The game itself was a lot of fun. We sat in the upper deck behind home plate IMG_2987and I loved the view.  In MICHAEL’S words “What made the game even better is the Reds won the game 11-2!” I strongly disagree :) YouIMG_2991 should also know that Michael is forcing me to put up a picture of the score. I would have conveniently left that out. We had a lot of fun hanging out with our friends and families (although we probably shouldn’t talk about the stress of driving, almost running out of gas, overheating, ending up on a ferry in the middle of nowhere, etc.). We spent most of IMG_2997Sunday playing volleyball in the pool. The second game was that night. We met Trisha and Trevor for dinner at Johnny Rockets (excellent milkshakes) and then headed to the ballpark. Trisha and Trevor were even nice enough to use their children to get Michael a RedsCaspers nightlight but don’t worry Michael did let the kids keep one.  The Sunday night game was a lot more intense. Our Braves fan power was really strong this time! IMG_3010Michael’s turn to narrate again… “It was a close game tied 3-3 until the bottom of the 9th when Drew Stubbs came to the plate. Sherrill threw out the 1st pitch and…. BOOM! Stubbs launched it over the right field wall! REDS WIN, WALK-OFF IMG_3011HOMERUN!”

We had a lot of fun with our friends and family (even though the games in my opinion could have turned out better). Thank you everyone for coming!
