Happy Thanksgiving

Posted by Rachel Saturday, November 26, 2011

This year Thanksgiving was quiet, really quiet. I've gotten used to hosting and having a bunch of my family come in but this year it was just Michael and I. Although it was different just the two of us it was actually really fun.

Thanksgiving is really the one day of the year I don't complain about cooking, I actually like it because I love the food and I feel like I do a pretty good job at it. We both really like turkey and are big dark meat turkey people so even though it was just the two of us we couldn't forgo getting a turkey, we did try really hard to find the smallest turkey we could but once you get below 10 pounds (at least when we were looking) you couldn't find a whole turkey just turkey breast so we ended up getting a 12 pounder. Yes we had lots of left overs and ate Thanksgiving food for about a week, it was beautiful.

For Thanksgiving Day since it was a small turkey we were able to sleep in before getting up to put the turkey in which was nice. We watched the Detroit Lions football game (poor Detroit couldn't take down Green Bay, far to many penalties and stupid mistakes) and then feasted. Being pregnant and not really being able to eat much at a time I barely got through one plate, but it was delicious none the less and like I said we had plenty of left overs so every few hours I'd go back and get more. It really was a fun day just hanging around with Michael and relaxing.

For the rest of the weekend we had fun plans. Kristin and Ryan were out with their kids to visit his parents so we went up Friday afternoon and spent the day hanging out and playing with them. It's amazing how big her kids are getting, I didn't even realize Owen was walking yet! And Saturday was a football day, we had Brandon and Lisa over for the Ohio State Michigan game and although the Buckeyes lost it was actually quite a good game. Overall it was a great holiday! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
